Hi –
I’m reading this book where it says that in a G-E7-Am-D7, the E7 is the dominant 7th of the Am so over the E7 you should play the A harmonic minor. Is this something you all do? I understand that if it was a minor ii-V then the A harmonic minor makes sense, but in this 1-6-2-5, isn’t the E7 just a dominant substitute for the diatonic Em?…Read More

That’s one way to think about it, let’s say you might play an Eminor chord in the key of G major a G major scale would provide you with an acceptable sound because Eminor in this case is born from the G major scale.   Thanks! I didn’t realize that just adding the major third made that an A harmonic minor scale. I tend to think of the chords themselves so I’m not used to applying scales starting on other notes over them.

We all struggle with performance anxiety… There is a lot said about it, f.e. on the YouTube, but the bottom line would be: 1. Be extremely prepared, 2. Perform more, much more. And then there are all kinds of tricks and advices, but if 1 and 2 are not in place – those tricks are useless.
