it might be easier to visualize if you break the scales up into playing areas (in this case 3 notes per string) that way you can see the areas and the overlaps without going blind looking at the whole thing at once -
I’ve always struggled to play with a pick so have avoided playing solo lines and just tried to work on what I’m ok at so whilst these Blues a day chorus lessons are probably smoother with a pick I’m just going to keep working on them with fingers and seeing where I can fit them into songs..I maybe here awhile …Read More

I think you can get more speed, sharpness and volume with a pick, but more tone variation and subtleties by using your fingers. (and you will never drop your pick if you don’t use one . . .) Sounds good to me – keep up the good work !

Ian, definitely stick with the fingers, check out the picking videos/lesson on the site it may give you some ideas about how to get Pick like speed without the pick .
